New Mexico Marriage Laws

ID Requirement: Both need current legal pictured ID, or birth certificate.
�  Both need proof of Social Security number.
�  Couples living in foreign countries need a passport.

Residency Requirement: None.

Application Requirement: Both applicants need to be present.

If Previously Married: the date of divorce or date of spouse's death must be supplied.

Fees: $25 - $40, which must be paid in cash

Waiting Period: No waiting period.

Blood Tests: No test.

Under 18: Parental consent if 16 or 17 years of age. Court order if 15 years of age.

Proxy Marriage: No.

Common Law Marriage: No.

Cousin Marriage: Yes.

Officiants: Any person credentialed by a religious society can perform a marriage in the State of New Mexico.

Valid:  Marriage licenses do not expire. The license can only be used within the State of New Mexico.
